Plate 11 of 26. Jason uses the two bulls of Mars with the bronze hooves (Khalkotauroi) to plow and sew the dragon's teeth; in the background, at left, warriors born from the teeth sprout from the earth; within in ornate border. One of a set of illustrations to the Livre de la Conqueste de la Toison d'or, published in Paris in 1563 and engraved by René Boyvin based on drawings by Léonard Thiry. Jason, the famous hero of antiquity, sets off on a quest to find the Golden Fleece which leads him to meet Medea with whom he has a love affair ending in tragedy.
