Ensemble

Designer Jean Paul Gaultier French
spring/summer 1996
Not on view
The physique one might wish for is rendered on the outside of this Gaultier jacket. The facile effect is that of seeing through clothing, but the super-effect is that of the idealizing fantasy. The back works likewise in this theme present for more than a decade in Gaultier's work. The designer manages to keep the effect fresh after numerous uses, treating it almost like a personal leitmotif.
