Horse

Suzuki Osamu Japanese
ca. 1980s
Not on view
This minimalist, abstract reference to a horse is a purely sculptural ceramic, combining crisp edges and curvilinear shapes. A high-fired porcelain work, it is covered with a light bluish-white (seihakuji) celadon glaze. Suzuki’s works are often gentle compositions inspired by animals such as horses and birds, or natural phenomena such as the wind and clouds, which are expressed in sharp, creative sculptural forms.
