Suit

Design House House of Chanel French
Designer Gabrielle Chanel French
1936
Not on view
Pictured in a Cecil Beaton drawing in this restrained daytime suit, Mrs. Vreeland is the fashion editor of abstinent judgment. In subsequent memory and caricature, Mrs. Vreeland as editor has become limned chiefly by exaggerated enthusiasms and passionate declamation, but her own wardrobe was always that of chaste arbiter and careful executive.
