Armstrong’s Field Book of Western Wild Flowers was the first field guide to describe the wildflowers of the states west of the Rocky Mountains. It was the culmination of her five historic trips with several friends to the Northwest between 1909-1914, where she identified new flora species. Armstrong also designed the cover and illustrations for this book. There are over five hundred illustrations in black and white and color, drawn from nature. Watson Library owns both variants: cloth and red morocco leather grained flexible cloth boards. Armstrong’s original drawings for these illustrations are in the Department of Drawings and Prints.
