Capt. Wm. C. F. Berghold from the Buchner "Gold Coin" Tobacco series (Police Captains and Inspectors) (N284) issued by D. Buchner ca.1887 to promote Gold Coin Chewing Tobacco. In the American Card Catalog, Burdick refers to the series as "Leading Baseball Players, Police Inspectors and Captains, Jockeys, and Actors." White border. Two types -- one with Gold Coin Tobacco (in script) printed at top. Series N284-2 includes at least 73 Police Captains and Inspectors Five different backs have been noted.
