Ballad Singer, A Match Woman, A Dealer in Greens
This social satire is not signed, but attributed to William Heath on the basis of style. The young woman seated at left, wearing a pink dress trimmed with green leaves, strums a guitar and sings. To the right, an older woman proposes her as a marriage candidate ito an older man at right who represents the Green family. The inscribed text above the figures makes it clear that he does not consider her a likely candidate.
