Portrait of a Young Woman

1860–79?
Not on view
Valério traveled widely throughout Europe during his career and built his reputation producing ethnographic drawings, watercolors, and prints of the people and regional costumes he encountered. This informal portrait of an unknown sitter reveals a more intimate side of the artist’s practice and likely dates from late in the artist's career, when he settled in Brittany.
