Star of Lemoyne Quilt

ca. 1820–40
Not on view
The anonymous female creator of this pieced quilt probably intended it for use within her own home, or as a gift to friends or family. Her work is composed of patches of more twenty reused printed textiles made across a span of about thirty years- reclaimed from cut-up garments and upholstery. The quilter has cleverly composed these seemingly disparate elements into a strong, bold and coherent repeat pattern.
