Tapis
This is a finely executed ceremonial skirt (tapis) from Abung in the Lampung region of southern Sumatra, Indonesia. Comprising longitudinal sections woven work embellished with silk, mirrors and embroidery to give this a highly decorative quality and rich texture. Two broader panels feature foliate designs in a dark color, bordered in creamy white, which stand out against the contrasting deep green backdrop giving this tapis a particularly vibrant and dynamic aspect.
