Each of the 31 leaves has a hole punched through the upper left corner through which a small clipped chain runs that holds them all together. These leaves are then wrapped in a woven African mudcloth from Mali, and all of this is set inside of a small box that is decorated with an adhered piece of black cloth that has a small African mask surrounded by straw-like material on it
