Print from a series of four designs of fantastic cars, designed by Cornelis Floris. The prints are examples of the characteristic style of grotesque designs that was developed in the Southern Netherlands during the second quarter of the sixteenth century. Inspired by Italian grotesque designs and the decorative scheme developed for the French Royal castle at Fontainebleau, they combine strapwork motifs with a range of different human figures and animals who sit atop or are capture by the strawork contraption.
