His Late Most Gracious Majesty George the Fourth (from "La Belle Assemblée")

August 1830
Not on view
In this bust-length portrait, the king faces the viewer, wearing a military coat with braided buttonholes, epaulettes and a high collar. He has the Garter Star pinned to his chest and is bare-headed. The image derives from a well-known portrait by Sir Thomas Lawrence and was published in "La Belle Assemblée or, Bell's Court and Fashionable Magazine Addressed Particularly to the Ladies," a British periodical published 1806–37, founded by John Bell.
