In this design, eastern hemlock branches form a woven pattern around an oval panel. By using hemlock, a coniferous tree common in eastern North America, Armstrong alludes to the Canadian setting of the stories. Scribner’s issued a limited-edition leather variant with blind- and gold-stamping on olive green leather.
