In 1864, the Boston lithographers Louis Prang & Co. published three sets of small colored cards devoted to "Views in Central Park." Much of the park below 79th Street had opened to the public by this date and these images isolate features that visitors on foot could visit. This card comes from the first set which is still housed in its original envelope and represents an arched white bridge with swans and a boat on the water in the foreground.
