Side View of a Fish

After Hendrick Goltzius Netherlandish
Publisher Pietro de' Nobili Italian
ca. 1590–1600
Not on view
This etching shows a side view of a fish, facing left. The print is reminiscent of the illustrations published in Ippolito Salviani's book "Aquatilium animalum historiae (...)", published in 1553 by Antonio Lafreri in Rome, but does not derive from it. The print might instead reproduce a drawing by Hendrick Goltzius, kept in the Cabinet des Estampes in the Royal Library in Brussels.
