Coat of Arms of Jean-Francois Paul de Gondi
This large print contains a cartouche showing a crest consisting of two crossed maces, crowned by a cardinal's hat. Personifications of "virtue" and "courtesy" are represented on either side of the coat of arms, as identified by the Greek words "ARETH" and "EVGENIA" written below each figure. The combination of the crossed maces and the greek writing suggest that this might be the arms of Jean-Francois Paul de Gondi (1613-1679), who was appointed as bishop of Greece (l'évêché in partibus de Corinthe) in 1644.
