Cutout from a Map with the Royal Coat of Arms of Spain

Publisher Vincenzo Luchini Italian
Publisher Giovanni Orlandi Italian
1556 or after
Not on view
This coat of arms has been cut out of a map of Spain and Portugal, which was first published by Vicenze Luchini in Rome in 1559, but later republished by Giovanni Orlandi. The presence of other prints from Orlandi's stock in this album may suggest the fragment was cut from one of the later editions of the print. Before ending up in the stock of Orlandi, the plate appears to have been owned by Claudio Duchetti (possibly by way of Antonio Lafreri) and then by Giacomo Gherardi.
