Two Roman Coins (book illustration)

Anonymous, French French

Not on view

This is a cut-out from a French book on ancient coins. Two different coins are represented, printed from individual plates. On the left, the smaller coin is a sesterce from the second century AD showing Emperor Trajan on a throne combined with the test "REX PARTHIS DATVS". On the right, a slightly larger coin of the same period shows Trajan enthroned in front of a larger crowd. Here, the image is combined with the text: "REGNA AD SIGNATA SC".
