Gemmae Antiquitus Sculptae

Publisher Pietro Stefanoni Italian

Not on view

This series contains illustrations of engraved gem stones from antiquity, collected and published by Pietro Stefanoni in Rome in 1627. Stefanoni owned several of the gems himself. Difference in execution suggests that some plates derive from a different series. Most, but not all of the plates contain inscriptions identifying the subject of the image.
