Thesis Print with the Motto of the Academia Inquietorum

This large thesis print shows five figures in a circular room. An angel kneels in front of an oval shield and writes the motto "AVT PINGENDVM". Surrounding the shield are four male figures. Hercules stands to the left, with three other soldiers to his side, one of whom has a Medusa shield and therefore may represent Perseus. Small shields with other mottos are placed along the walls. At bottom the name "ACADEMIA INQUIETVR" is legible, but the second line cannot be deciphered as it is bound too tightly into the center of the album. Several academies founded in Italy in the late seventeenth century used the name "Academia degli Inquieti" (Academy of the Restless), and this print may be connected to the one in Rome although the style of the composition seems to imply an earlier date.
