Tripod offering dish

8th century
Not on view
This large offering dish, with its high-fired dense body, lustrous glaze, intense color, and elegant form, represents the refinement of works created by craftsmen of the Tang dynasty. The shape of the piece, including the raised rim with a folded lip and curving wall, and the animal’s paw-shaped feet, reflects the influence of metalwork ultimately from Central and West Asia.
