Platforms for commercial photography increased exponentially between the early 1920s and 1930s, when photographs illustrated roughly eighty percent of American ads. The consequent professionalization of the field yielded all manner of instructional manuals, including this book of expert tricks and tips. Lester Kahn here notes special considerations for photomurals—a novel style of in-store display. His made-to-measure still life was lauded at home and abroad, receiving praise in the German press for its elegant concision.
