Trade card (no. 54) from the series Prizefighters (T9), issued by Turkey Red Cigarettes. Known as the "Turkey Red" series. These prizefighter cards are numbered 51-76 with the other 100 being Baseball Players (see series T3). Large scale colorful cabinet-style cards. Image of prizefighter in action at center with gold "nameplate" on frame-like border. Cards were obtained by redeeming Turkey Red cigarette coupons. There are a number of different backs in set including some with numbered checklists of the cards in sequence with the baseball cards. Note: S. Anargyros Tobacco Company was bought by American Tobacco Company at turn of century although S. Anargyros is printed on back of "Picture Coupon" cards for 51-76.
