This white velvet pincushion is painted with a single two-leaf red rose, on both covers. Sally is handwritten in black on the spine. The edges of the binding are bordered with thin strips of gold paper embossed with a dotted pattern. The body of the pincushion is pink silk stuffed with an unknown material. -- description by Mindell Dubansky in consultation with Lynn Heckman
