Partial copy of the Stele on Ritual Vessels (Liqi bei); Painting of chrysanthemums and banana leaves
On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.Li Jian seems to have enjoyed contrasting the stateliness of Han-dynasty clerical script with the informality of broadly brushed flower paintings. This example pairs the widely celebrated Stele on Ritual Vessels with an image of chrysanthemum and banana leaves in the manner of Wu Changshuo (1844–1927).
