United States of Attica
United States of Attica and Woman Freedom Now, both of 1971, are among Ringgold's most important and best-known works in any medium. Part of the Political Posters Series, they were made in the colors of Black nationalism—red, green, and black. In United States of Attica, Ringgold presents a map of the U.S. with dates and details of acts of violence that occurred since the late 1700s inscribed throughout the composition.
