This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.The segmentation and dispersal of many of Louis XIV’s carpets following the French Revolution turned them into a gigantic jigsaw puzzle. Thanks to detailed descriptions in royal inventories, even some of the smaller pieces, such as this fragment, can be identified.
