Infant's cap

probably Greek

Not on view

Modest but appealing, this infant's cap is carefully worked with tiny green glass beads on a cotton support. A flounce of machined lace would surround the infant's face, with cotton straps to tie under chin. Some yellowish staining suggests the cap has been worn and used.
