Made from a zinc plate, which Sloan notes he hardly ever used due to how soft it is - you cannot work on them long before they wear down. This print was started as a pure etching, but Sloan felt the lines were bitten too deeply and coarsely, so he added aquatint, see: Morse 1969, p. 247.
