Fourteen pendants for a necklace
Middle Kingdom
Not on view
These fourteen pendants are unique. Each pendant was created by fashioning a flat oval cut from the upper surface of a marine shell, probably in the family Neritidae. Each piece of shell was then set into a flat piece of silver with a loop at the top.
