New Galleries/Fresh Perspectives—A Conversation About Presenting Africa’s Cultural Landmarks

Join a filmmaker, curators, and an international correspondent to learn about a series of short films that foreground twelve of sub-Saharan Africa’s distinct landmarks.

In celebration of The Met’s reenvisioned Arts of Africa galleries in The Michael C. Rockefeller Wing, which opened in May 2025, preview a new layer of content developed in collaboration with World Monuments Fund that expands the context for understanding Africa’s immense cultural diversity. Join a panel of experts, including a filmmaker, curators, and an international correspondent, to learn about a newly produced series of short films that foreground twelve of sub-Saharan Africa’s distinct landmarks and why they matter.
