(New York, May 20, 2025)— The Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today that it has elected Kenneth “Ken” Hao as an Elective Trustee. The election took place at the May 20, 2025 meeting of the Board and was announced by Candace K. Beinecke and Hamilton (“Tony”) E. James, Co-Chairs of the Museum’s Board of Trustees.
“We are excited to welcome Ken to our board as an Elective Trustee,” said Board Co-Chairs Beinecke and James. “His leadership and deep knowledge of innovative projects will be a wonderful resource in furthering the mission of the Museum.”
Kenneth Hao
Mr. Hao is Chairman and a Managing Partner of Silver Lake, a global private equity firm focused on technology and related industries. He has served on the board of directors of portfolio companies including Broadcom, NortonLifelock, ServiceMax, Smart Global Holdings, Solarwinds, Splunk, Symantec and UGS. In 2008, Mr. Hao established Silver Lake’s offices in Asia where he led investments in Alibaba Group and Ant Financial. Prior to joining Silver Lake in 2000, he spent a decade as a Managing Director of Hambrecht & Quist (now part of JP Morgan). Mr. Hao graduated with an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College where he played on the varsity tennis team. He serves as Co-Chairman of the UCSF Executive Council and Vice Chairman of the UCSF Foundation and a board member of UTR Sports.
At The Met, Mr. Hao, his wife Kathy Chiao, and their daughter Kaitlin Hao are major supporters of the forthcoming Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Wing for Modern and Contemporary Art and have been donors to social media initiatives and Asian Art programming and acquisitions.
