Per quest’opera, Wall ricreò una scena quotidiana a cui aveva assistito di persona. Servendosi di attori non professionisti e di un luogo reale, Wall presentò l’immagine finale come una diapositiva retroilluminata del genere che si vede nelle stazioni degli autobus e negli aeroporti. Ma l’osservatore attento si accorge che alcune delle pose dei personaggi richiamano quadri famosi di pittori francesi, come Édouard Manet e Georges Seurat, che ai loro tempi avevano a loro volta citato i maestri del passato.
