壁泉
石工の町セッティニャーノに生まれ、偉大な建築師アントニオ・ダ・サンガーロ(子)を師としたシモーネ・モスカは、建築装飾の彫刻師として一流の美術家と共同で作品を制作しました。この巨大な噴水はアレッツォのフォッソンブローニ邸のために、地元のピエトラ・セレーナと呼ばれる砂岩で造られました。建築物とも彫刻ともいえるこの魅力的な作品は、土台、柱、エンタブラチュアと、マスク、スカラップ飾り、植物のモチーフが絶妙なバランスで配されています。この作品が制作された年、モスカはミケランジェロのためにメディチ礼拝堂の装飾に携わりました。噴水の前面の壁の微妙な凹凸は、モスカがミケランジェロの意図を理解していたことを示しています。
