この絹の壁掛けは、1791年から1803年の間にスペインのアランフエスに建てられたスペイン国王カルロス4世の田園の別荘、カシタ・デ・ラブラドール宮殿のビリヤード室用に製作された一対の片方でした。フランスとスペイン双方の貴族に仕えたドュゴールは、幅広い分野のモチーフを融合した作品で知られた作家でした。この壁掛けは、ラファエロによるバチカンのロッジアの装飾に着想を得ています。リヨンで第一級の贅沢な絹織物を製作したカミーユ・ペールノンによるこの作品は、織物と刺繍の装飾が融合した力作です。
