古代ガラス製品の傑作であるこの鋳造ガラスの鉢は、ほぼ均等の大きさの紫、黄、青、無色の4色の透明ガラスから成り、鋳型で同時に圧縮して製造したものです。それぞれの色の部分に不透明の白い紐で吊るされた花綱を表した、多彩色のモザイクガラス(束にしたガラス棒の横断片)の装飾が施されています。現存する古代ガラスのうち、異なる色の大きなセクションまたは帯でできた器はほとんどなく、この作品はその鋳造技術をモザ イク装飾と組み合わせた唯一の作例です。
