シャーマンともペテン師とも言えるハモンズは、ある時はニューヨーク高級住宅街の歩道で雪玉を売り、またある時は雪玉よりは若干長持ちする、鶏の骨とハーレムの床屋で集めた人間の髪の毛から成る優雅な彫刻を作り、さらに1989年には顔を白く塗ったジェシー・ジャクソン議員の肖像をワシントンの巨大なビルボードで展示しました。彼の最初で最後のビデオ作品《ファット・フリー》は、ゴミ箱を猛烈に叩くような大音響が鳴り響くなか始まりますが、夜間にバワリー通りで「バケツを蹴る」得体の知れない人物が明かされると、恐怖感を覚えると同時に爽快な警鐘だという印象を受けます。
