水月観音菩薩像

華やかな衣をまとった水月観音菩薩(スウォルカンウムド)として知られる菩薩が、波を見下ろす崖の上に座っています。王冠にある阿弥陀如来の小さな像と柳の枝を生けた儀式用の水瓶という、この菩薩によく見られる特徴が見られます。画面最上部には小さな月の中でウサギが不老不死の薬を杵でついています。菩薩の足元には、美しく着飾った小さな人々が龍王に案内されており、右下には観音との出会いが「華厳経」で語られている巡礼者の善財童子が描かれています。
