この肖像は、重要な港湾都市アレクサンドリアの教養ある若者を描いたもので、優美ではつらつとした姿を紺青色のガラスの上に金で表しています。枠を付けてペンダントとして着用されたであろうこの大メダルには『音楽芸術に最も長けたゲンナディオス』のギリシャ語の銘があることから、おそらく音楽コンクールでの優秀な成績を称えるものだったと思われます。
