繊細に彫られたこの肖像は、思慮深い表情と鋭い視線の成熟した女性を表しています。右手に持つ巻物は古典をたしなんでいたことを示唆し、身分の高い女性であることが分かります。同じく貴族の女性であることを示す外套、外衣、そして被り物を着用していますが、この種の被り物は4世紀に流行しました。この胸像は、寄付行為を表敬する記念碑の一部として展示されたか、あるいは家庭内で飾られたと思われます。
