貴重な雄馬を愛でるマハラナ・サループ・シン

マハラナ・サループ・シンの画房で最も重要な画家だったターラによるこの作品では、メワールの支配者が大勢の廷臣とともに貴重な雄馬を愛でるところが描かれています。夏用の敷物と天蓋など、豊かな装飾が施された織物が、屋外の仮設の場所をまるで宮殿のような華やかな場面に変貌させています。ターラはマハラナの生活におけるウダイプール宮殿や領土郊外での重要な出来事を記録することに長けていました。裏面にマハラナ、馬、そして主な廷臣の名前が記載されており、この絵が特定の出来事を記録するものであることを示しています。それはマハラナの誕生日だったのかも知れません。
