성모와 성 요한이 함께 있는 예수 책형
16247ndash;25년경의 이 캔버스는 제단화로 그려졌는데 가톨릭교가 받아들여지긴 했으나 격려받지는 못했던 위트레흐트에 있는 가톨릭 교회의 것으로 추정됩니다. 그리스도의 각진 형상, 비좁은 공간, 별이 무성한 하늘과 같은 이 그림의 두드러진 고풍스런 특성은 많은 감상자들에게 중세 후기 목판, 뒤러의 인쇄물 그리고 프랑스 콜마르에 있는 마티아스 그뤼네발트의 이젠하임 제단화를 상기시켰습니다. 손상되었거나 파괴된 초기 제단화를 대체하기 위해 이 박물관 그림이 그려진 것으로 보입니다. 바래기 쉬운 물감(화감청)으로 그려진 것으로 보아 하늘이 이전에는 더 푸른 색조를 띄고 있었을 것입니다.
