이 여성상의 신체적 특징을 보면 라셰즈는 자신과 1917년에 결혼하여 평생을 함께 하며 예술적 영감을 주었던 미국인 이사벨 두터드 네이글을 묘사한 것으로 추정됩니다. 라셰즈는 20세기 초 파리에서 조각가로 창작활동을 시작했으며 1906년 이사벨을 따라 미국으로 이주하여 평생 동안 살았으며 미국을 대표하는 인물상 조각가가 되었습니다. 서 있는 여인은 그의 첫 번째 실물 크기의 조각 작품입니다. 라셰즈는 이 조각에서 볼 수 있는 둥근 상체, 평평한 등과 엉덩이, 넓고 풍만한 유방, 가는 손 그리고 발끝으로 내려 갈수록 점점 가늘어지는 다리를 원초적인 이상형 여인으로서 표현하였습니다.
