There is shade and beautiful greenery, allées of trees that make us truly a part of Central Park, and magnificent new fountains for our millions of visitors to enjoy as they experience one of New York's favorite theaters: the steps of the Met.
Our Trustee David Koch was among the first to recognize the significance of this project and made it happen, enjoying every complex detail along the way—from the hauling of granite for new fountains and paving stones, to the planting of trees and the installation of hundreds of LED lights, on an area roughly the size of three football fields. We share his pride in this outstanding renovation and are thrilled to share this exciting gift with our city.
