The Glass Age

For The Glass Age, a one-night only performance in the Charles Engelhard Court at The Met on January 15, 2026, conceptual artist Alex Da Corte—renowned for works that shatter boundaries between media—and musician and composer Emily Wells produced a choreographed dialogue. Da Corte transformed himself into the Dada pioneer Marcel Duchamp and delivered a lecture as a poem set to hundreds of pictures, accompanied by Wells in the guise of Eric Satie. In the work, Duchamp finds himself inside the prism world of copies, duplicates, replicas, proxies, and memes—a place, not unlike a rayograph by Man Ray, where image, object, and time coalesce.
