A conversation with the artist Wangechi Mutu and Kelly Baum, Cynthia Hazen Polsky and Leon Polsky Curator of Contemporary Art.
The Women and the Critical Eye series celebrates women collectors, curators, and artists to foster greater appreciation of works of art. This year, Met curator Kelly Baum will join in conversation with Wangechi Mutu, whose sculptures, The NewOnes, will free Us, have graced The Met's historic façade since September 2019. Together, they'll explore the artist's creative process as well as the works' presentation, iconography, and cultural and art historical references.
