Ann G. Tenenbaum Named Elective Trustee at Metropolitan Museum

Ann G. Tenenbaum has been elected to the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, it was announced today by James R. Houghton, the Museum's Chairman. The election took place at the March 8 meeting of the Board of Trustees.

Ms. Tenenbaum has been affiliated with the Metropolitan Museum since 1996, when she became a member of the Visiting Committee for the Museum's Department of Photographs.

"The Metropolitan Museum is pleased to recognize Ann Tenenbaum's exemplary support for a broad range of contemporary artistic expression, and we are delighted she is joining our Board as an Elective Trustee," commented Mr. Houghton in announcing the election.

Philippe de Montebello, Director of the Metropolitan, added: "Ann's enthusiastic advocacy of the art of our times, combined with broad-ranging interests that bring together many distinct realms of culture, will be a major asset to the Board. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with her in her new role."

In addition to her work with the Metropolitan Museum, Ms. Tenenbaum is a founding member of the Board of Governors for the Bard College Center for Curatorial Studies, Co-President of the Board of Trustees of the Film Society of Lincoln Center, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dia Center for the Arts. She also serves on the boards of Sarah Lawrence College, Channel 13/WNET, The Studio Museum in Harlem, Second Stage Theatre, and Guild Hall of East Hampton, and is on the Chairman's Council of the Museum of Modern Art.

Among her awards are the 2003 Leo Award given by Independent Curators International and the 2003 Child Advocacy Award given by the New York University Child Study Center.

A native of Savannah, Georgia, Ms. Tenenbaum was educated at Sarah Lawrence College. She resides in Manhattan with her husband and two children.
