RICHARD L. CHILTON, JR. ELECTED TRUSTEE AT METROPOLITAN MUSEUM

The election of Richard L. Chilton, Jr. to the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan Museum of Art was announced today by James R. Houghton, the Museum's Chairman. Mr. Chilton's election took place at the May 9 meeting of the Board.

"Richard's strong personal interest in technology and youth education is combined with a boundless enthusiasm for American furniture and paintings," commented Mr. Houghton. "He has been a generous friend to the Museum's American Wing, supporting its acquisitions as well as its exhibitions – particularly the recent exhibition of works by John Townsend – and I am delighted to welcome him to his new role on the Board of Trustees."

Educated at Alfred University, where he studied finance and economics, Mr. Chilton is the founder of Chilton Investment Company, an investment firm that manages a series of classic long/short equity partnerships. Mr. Chilton founded his firm in 1992 with the flagship fund, Chilton Investment Partners, LP, and now manages over twelve different partnerships investing in companies all across the world.

Mr. Chilton is also the founder and chairman of the Darien Technology Foundation, Inc., which focuses on and provides grants for technology initiatives in schools, libraries and educational centers.

From 1994 to 2002 Mr. Chilton was a trustee and Chairman of the Investment Committee for Historic Hudson Valley, a non-profit foundation focusing on historic preservation in the Hudson River Valley. Currently, he is on the board of directors of the Robin Hood Foundation, Inc., a charitable organization dedicated to fighting poverty in New York City, and is a trustee of The Boys Club of New York and Greenwich Academy, a day school for girls located in Greenwich, Connecticut.

He is also trustee of The Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum and a member of the Director's Roundtable at the Pierpont Morgan Library. At the Metropolitan Museum, he is a member of the Chairman's Council, was elected a Fellow for Life in 2004, and will be a co-honoree at the 2006 Corporate Benefit in June.
