“Mingus in Mexico,” is a painting by David Salle full of juxtaposed visuals including outlined chairs, tables, lamps and African sculpture, overlaying a pictorial backdrop derived from 16th and 17th century tapestries. There is an orange speech-bubble empty of words near the center of the canvas, and there are two smaller monochrome canvases inset within the work.
